Termite inspection cost in Melbourne: scope and quotes
DAC does not publish a fixed termite inspection price or a Melbourne price range. Ask for a quote for your property and confirm the inspection scope, accessible areas, reporting and any proposed treatment before booking. An inspection quote should not be assumed to include treatment.
DAC Investigative Reporting

How do you get a quote?
Send your suburb or postcode, the property details, what you have noticed and any previous inspection or treatment information. DAC confirms coverage, access requirements, scope, timing and fees before booking.
Where relevant, ask whether there is a travel charge and whether any follow-up investigation or treatment would be quoted separately. Without an agreed scope, comparing a headline price does not tell you what work is included.
What can an inspection cover?
DAC's termite service checks accessible internal and external areas, the perimeter and, where safely accessible, the subfloor and roof void. Suitable detection tools may be used to assess suspect timber and moisture.
Findings and access restrictions are documented. An inaccessible cavity or unsafe area cannot be treated as though it has been fully inspected, and no tool guarantees discovery of every concealed activity.
What should you clarify before booking?
Ask for the proposed inspection and reporting scope in plain language.
- Which internal, external, roof-void and subfloor areas can be accessed safely?
- How will findings and inaccessible areas be recorded?
- Are further investigation, follow-up checks or treatment included or separate?
- Is coverage confirmed for your location, including any travel charge?
- What action is recommended if activity is identified?
Is treatment the same as an inspection?
No. Inspection assesses activity, affected areas and the available evidence. Treatment depends on the species, building and location, and requires its own suitable scope. Do not assume that an inspection price includes a treatment programme or repairs to damaged material.
What if you find signs before the appointment?
Leave suspected termite signs undisturbed. Do not spray them or break open workings before the assessment. Keep people away from apparently unsafe areas and photograph what can be seen without disturbing it.
